In Remembrance
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.— Lt.-Col. John McCrae

Nicole Husnik, of www.nikkyleedesigns.etsy.com, creates stunning handmade jewelry and very professional photographs. What inspires Nicole to create? “Mostly nature and its ability to be beautiful with such little effort.” Her work seems to require little effort, too, and that is a hallmark of excellent design and craftsmanship. She chooses many different styles of beads and stones to work with. Some of her work is funky and some of it is more traditional beadwork. Her favorite thing about her craft: “The pure exhilaration when a piece is finished, or a photo turns out, just as I hoped... amazing feeling of satisfaction!”

If you are in the market for a stunning hand-bound journal or guest book, look no further than UberArt.etsy.com. Beth’s work is to die for! Any paper lover would agree that her work would be a pleasure to create an art journal with. Your guests will also love to sign their names in her guest books, and these would make a great addition to any event, not just weddings. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a guest book from that backyard BBQ that was so fun last summer? You can have blank pages added to the back of Beth’s guest books for photos and mementos. A book like that would be cherished for years to come!
All of Beth’s books are made with tender loving care, with superior workmanship, and great attention to detail. She is a self-professed super-perfectionist and if it doesn't pass her quality control, it doesn't leave her studio!
“My customers inspire me to create books that both of us love. Making something beautiful that will be cherished and loved is very rewarding for me. I love working with paper, collecting paper, coordinating papers, touching paper... and so on! Selling my books gives me an excuse to buy more paper!” says Beth about her work.
Beth has an undergraduate degree in studio art and a Masters in Art Therapy. She has studied everything from paper arts to jewelry design, collage and pottery. She is a self-taught book artist and has been making books since around 2003.

Carmel Apple Goodness
My two favorite things meet up in this new recipe, Carmel-Apple Pie. It's a new twist on an old favorite. My husband, who is picky when it comes to dessert, loved it. I will be adding this to my recipe box. It's very sweet so you might want to tweak the sugar amounts to suit your taste.
Pie crust: In a bowl, cut 1/3 cup butter into 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour with a pastry blender till pieces are the size of peas. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon milk over part of the mixture; gently toss with a fork. Repeat moistening the dough, using 3 tablespoons more milk, till all the dough is moistened. Shape in a ball.
Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil. Bake 25 to 30 minutes more until golden. Cool 10 minutes then drizzle carmel topping over top.
Enjoy!!

Blue and Green ~ Wednesday Favorites
My two favorite colors are blue and green. Nothing makes me happier than to look out my window and see green trees against a perfect blue sky. It's relaxing, refreshing and brings a smile to my face. To top off my perfect day there is no humidity! It's in the 80's today, cool breeze and no trace of the sticky air that is so common this time of year. In honor of my 'perfect' day, my Wednesday Favorites will be featuring my two favorite colors. Enjoy!

Go Green at our Eco Party!
It's an Eco Party and you are invited to 'go green' with the Etsy Twitter Team July 21-27. Many of the members, including myself, have come together to showcase our 'repurposed' or 'recycled' items. These artists and crafters have spent time looking for ways to reuse everyday items around them to create something new and exciting for the Etsy marketplace. You can check out all the items involved in the event at http://www.etsytwitter.blogspot.com/.
My scrabble tiles and poker chips have been repurposed and brought back to life as whimsical, pendants and charms. I love finding interesting pictures to put on each pendant. Pretty Whimsical is running a special for the Eco Party: Buy 1 Get 1! Please notify me in the 'message to seller' box, at time of checkout, which pendant you want and I will include it free of charge.

Etsy Twitter Member of the Week ~ LMcreations
The following is a repost from one of our talented ETT members. Enjoy!
Lisa Murdin is the creative genius behind the rainbow array of wristlets, pouches, purses and more at LMCreation. Whether from fabric, vinyl, or occasionally leather, the store's creations add a splash of whimsy and color to anything you wear.
Lisa's aim is to make "the best quality piece that I can in my own style and with fabrics that really appeal to me. I also aim to provide the best customer service that I can, the same kind of service that I would like to receive as a customer." Inspired by the beautiful variety of fabrics available, Lisa, like many textile artists, often feels that the fabric "tells me what to do, so when I see the right fabric I just know that it will make a special bag or wristlet or whatever."
Her tip for using Twitter? "Get involved with other people on Twitter, respond to their tweets, re-tweet something that is interesting or good for a new twitter member who might need some help. I might tell people what I'm working on, but I only post links to items in my shop once or twice a day, no more than that. People get to know me and the things that I make and I've had sales and custom orders from twitter contacts, as well as being featured in blogs and treasuries."
www.LMcreation.etsy.com Lisa ships worldwide and is happy to provide quotes on custom orders.
Special Deal Offered : 10% discount offered to Twitter customers until July 12. Use code "EtsyTwitter" in the Message to Seller and 10% of purchase price will be refunded.

Etsy Twitter Member of the Week Sumiko Shop
The following blog repost was written by one of our talented ETT members who has given me permission to share the following with you. Please stop by Evelyn's Etsy shop and look at all her lovely items.
Evelyn Palazzin, of http://sumikoshop.etsy.com/, creates gorgeous jewelry and accessories for women. Her shop is filled with lovely items and the photographs are beautiful, enticing all who stop by to take a look and make a purchase. Evelyn lives in a tourist town by the sea in Italy. Her creations have an old-world charm about them.
“I have always had a passion to create, to recycle items, and to invent and process things from scratch. I don’t consciously think of myself as an artist BUT as a person who always loves to create and learn new techniques. After I became a mother, I used my free time to create jewellery and accessories for myself and my friends. That was also about the time that I discovered Etsy and the world of eShops.
"I have always had a passion for sewing clothes for myself, but I also loved unique and original accessories, and I found such joy in creating them, or seeing people wear such items. I spend countless hours searching for new materials and findings for my jewellery. It’s inevitable to get an idea or inspiration after such intense consideration of materials. Sometimes just studying them creates images of the completed item in my mind.”
If you never become famous with your art, would you still think it was a route worth taking? “Certainly. The joy of art is in its creation, its appreciation, and its ability to enrich the mind. We must not think of art as a means for fame and wealth, but as a way of expression, to keep the mind active, and as the wholesome way to live fully, daily. If success and fame comes, then it comes as a surprise.”

Etsy Twitter Member of the Week RockisSupplies
I am excited to showcase this weeks Etsy Twitter Team member. Please enjoy the repost written by one of our talented team members and stop by and visit Rocki's shop!
Deb "Rocki" Adams, of RockisSupplies.etsy.com, creates “handcrafted metalwork findings & jewelry in a variety of finishes using Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, 14k Gold Filled & now Copper”. Her signature pieces are Elfin Ear wires and they are stunning. “A couple years ago, when I was selling in my old Etsy shop, I made my own ear wires for my jewelry and started getting requests for my Signature Elfins. So, I started selling them in that shop and it took off from there.” What a nice way to get a start in selling handmade supplies!
When you look at Rocki’s Supplies shop for the first time it’s easy to assume the items are not handmade simply because they are so perfect! But her jewelry findings really are handmade!! It’s amazing! Including handmade findings in your handmade jewelry would definitely increase the value of your work as a whole. Plus you’re buying handmade for your supplies and everybody wins!
“My tag line pretty much sums it up that my findings are more than supplies, they are ‘Handcrafted Pieces of Art For Your Artistic Creations’ - I truly put my heart and soul into my work and although my days are quite long, I value the integrity of each piece I make and customer care is most important to me. I appreciate each customer and am thrilled when they share their creations with me - makes my heart happy!”
