What do horses, mint juleps, large hats and roses have in common? The Kentucky Derby of course. The race has been a part of the Louisville, Kentucky landscape since it first began in 1875. Among the many traditions at Churchill Downs are the big-brimmed, flamboyant Derby hats and mint juleps and of course the lush blanket of red roses presented to the winner.
