Sunday Afternoon. Americana.

Don't you just love this photo?  Can you think of a more fitting way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon than celebrating America's birthday?  We are headed out to a Fourth of July celebration called Honor America.  This is an annual event held on the College of the Ozarks campus in Pt. Lookout, Missouri.  We take our lawn chairs and go early for the picnic and music and then visit with friends till the fireworks begin.  The weather is an unseasonably cool 77 degrees today.  I am not sure we will know what to do without our normal 90+ degrees and high humidity.  This is definitely one for the record books.  Enjoy your Sunday!

DIY. Parmesan Ice Cream.

Next time you are in the mood to pull out the ice cream maker and mix up a batch of homemade ice cream try out this recipe from 1751.  This fancy ice cream shares an ingredient most commonly pared with Spaghetti--parmesan!  Sarah Lohman, from Four Pounds Flour, wrote an interesting blog post for Etsy today about the history of ice cream. She thoughtfully included this intriguing sweet and savory recipe that I am putting down on my 'must try' list for the Summer.

Happy Friday. Candy Treasure Chest

For those of you who think that finding a pirate's treasure chest full of candy is the stuff that dreams are made of look no further.  Here is a tutorial by Heather Baird, from Sprinkle Bakes,  that shows how to create your very own candy treasure chest!  Happy Friday!

DIY. Inkodye Pouch.

I found another great tutorial on the Etsy blog this week.  Jessica from How About Orange shares her tutorial on how to make a Inkodye Pouch.  I took a screen printing class in college and loved the whole experience but like Jessica would like a less messy process.  Inkodye is a water based product that is activated by the sun and leaves a permeant image on any natural material.  You can find the complete list of supplies and instructions on the above link.

Etsy Finds. mmmcrafts.

When I was a little girl I was fascinated with a doll shop in a neighboring town that sold a reversible 'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'Grandma' doll.  They shared a reversible skirt and when you flipped it over you would reveal the other doll.  This memory flashed across my mind when I saw these adorable 'Little Red' and 'Gramma Wolfie' doll patterns by Larissa Holland.  I love her shop mmmcrafts and enjoyed looking at all her wonderful patterns, especially her Wee Mouse Tin House and Travel Wees.
